Don't know what Nicky intended, but seeing as this is in the off-topic section, I'm thinking that we're supposed to tell which are our non orchid favorite flowers??

Unfortunately Nicky is a spammer who has now been banned and the spam links removed. So not sure what her intention was as far as orchids or non-orchids, but the main intention it seems was to spam us
However I don't really want to delete this thread if it's drawn a good discussion so I'm going to leave it open.

So... my favorite
I would have to say Hippeastrum, also known (incorrectly) as Amaralis.
I love the massive flowers it produces. Just mesmerising!

What is your favorite flower
My favorite is whatever is blooming at the time. Starting in spring, daffodils, magnolias, azaleas, later there are daylilies, anything in the Amaryllis family, right now the crepe myrtles, later more Amaryllis family. Well, you get the idea.

What a kool question! And to think a spammer started this. Classic.
I think Orchids are cool, but there are others I think are just as awesome.
Asclepiads -- these include milkweeds, Hoyas, Dischidia, lifesaver cactus and starfish cactus (Stapelia, Huernia, etc.....). I love these because of the fantastic pollination mechanism and the shape of a crown on the reproductive parts of the flower (not the petals or sepals). I think this group is equal to orchids in strangeness.
Then we have Aroids. So many different cool arrangements of Spathe and Spadix.
I love the tubular flowers in the heather family, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, heaths and heathers, blueberries and tropical blueberries, all amazing.

It is tough to pick a favorite. Roses are wonderful but digging around the roots under the thorny branches to treat with systemic is no fun, nor is spraying for 'black spot'. I have a variety of spring bulbs and fruit trees which make spring really lovely (when we don't get a late frost) and then, I have some summer bloomers that are sprinkled among my herbs. Heliopolis blooms from late spring until frost and is a pretty plant. I really like my jasmines because of their fragrance and the hibiscus for it's showy blooms. I've really liked my orchids when they bloomed but I wish they bloomed more often or for longer and were more strongly fragrant (roses, lilac, lily of the valley, and jasmines spoil me). Maybe some of the orchids that haven't bloomed will be a favorite. I do have some really nice young catts, angraecums, vandas, and a psychopsis that show promise. So far, my no ID phal-type dendrobium has the prize for the orchids. It usually has new spikes forming when the old ones begin dying off, is really pretty with nicely-sized purple blossoms that smell like grape geletin powder and the blooms last two and a half months. Wow! What a tough question!
