Heading to Phoenix! Site seeing suggestions please.

I am off to Phoenix in the AM to attend some classes at the World Pastry Forum and then check out the the National Pastry Team Championship.

Will have some down time and welcome any suggestions of things to do in and around Phoenix. I will have a car, so my options are open.

There's an amazing desert botanical garden - Visit the Desert Botanical Garden | Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ

Exceptional collection of cactus and native plants. Be careful out there though, the weather is insane! Today was 118 degrees.

Thanks Tristan the link. It was crazy hot. Not so bad with it being lower humidity. Not like I am going to golf 18 in this heat though! Did have to go outside to warm up after my class today, to much A/C.
