Not sure I understand your question. However, these are not winter hardy like their relatives "Hens & Chicks" (Sempervivum) or Sedum. Echeveria is a genus under the family that includes common Jade, Kalanchoe, etc, Crassulaceae. Echeveria are mostly from Mexico.

Wonderful.
Still plan to get one of these off my Mum. She grows them and I've seen them flowering now at her house. Her's also like to grow 'basel keikis' a lot and she's said I can have one next time she separates them.

I guess Im just wondering how you would distinguish this from the other closely related genera. Thanks.

I don't know that it is any different than different genera of the Oncidium Alliance.
I guess it is like any other plant.... Echeveria flowers and plant parts are different than Crassula which are different from Graptopatellum or Kalanchoe, etc. It all has to do with taxonomy just as with orchids.

I have 3 hybrids and 1 species. The hybrids are all blooming now... they're so cute!
