I can only speak from my own experience as a Central Florida grower. Under my conditions I have found the Mexican Flame Vine to be drought tolerant and resistant to insect damage. I've never seen chew marks, mealies, or aphids. During our rainy season it sometimes develops random circular black patches on the leaves. It prefers bright sunlit conditions and blooms heavily three or four times a year. The centers of each bloom are heavily encrusted with pollen and the fragrance is honey like.
