I was really surprised to see absolutely nopost whishing anyone here a happy 4th of july. I guess some things in life are just not important anymore and are just taken for granted. at least the members from canada remembered thiers....

Oh, Dennis, where do I start? Where was I on 9/11? In my office watching the planes bomb the twin towers. Not for entertainment, but out of terror. Terror is something one learns after being bombed. Terror is something one learns after being rocketed. Terror is something one learns after being mortared. Yes it was all three for me back in the 60's in Viet Nam. Not something I flaunt (how could one ever flaunt the atrocities that took place there) but something I live with every day. I really appreciate Allen Jackson's song and listen to it often, but please remember, this country has NEVER had a clue about it's enemies! How is it that a person can give up his (or her) life to kill others? How is it that another nation can capture foreign nationals and throw them into "prison" only to die a slow death? The whole answer is the meaning we assign to various causes. If Muslem, then to die is to go to Ala, almost immediately. If Communist, "prisoner" is simply infidel and not to be protected. Life has no value when the nation is "swimming" in lives. I've been there, I've witnessed the slaughter and bloodshed first-hand. I've "lived" through Agent-Orange sprayed on villages and people (including me.) I thank God every day I am alive and I thank this nation for my freedom. I thank those in Iraq and Afganistan for my freedom. I do not thank Allen Jackson for "not understanding the difference between Iraq and Iran". That is inexcusable.

Happy 4th of July all ..
It's never too late to wish anyone anything
Sorry I was out most of yesterday celebrating it ...
I have family in the military in fact my brother in law and my sis and the kids are up for a few days before he is sent off overseas soon.
No patriotism?
All one has to do is post a Happy 4th of July and I am sure plenty of people would have reciprocated with happy greetings and salutations.

Your absolutely right Dorothy, it's never to late
Happy Belated 4th of July ! ! ! !
Out of due respect, I do not feel it's a matter of forgetting to wish one a happy 4th of July. It appears to me that our community is a busy one. As for myself, I wore my red/white/blue clocked in at work by 6 and clocked out 8 hours later never missing a beat of saying "have a great 4th and be safe". By days end, exhausted and my thoughts were getting home and sitting in my comfort chair and chillin'. Not a bit of disrespect to our national working holiday.

You know, if there's one thing we think about the Americans, it's that they're patriotic! We're having a big debate over here in the UK, the Scots and the Welsh are very passionate about it all and hate to be called Brits, and now the English have got fed up of it all and reclaimed St Georges flag as our own, and it's cool to be English again!Doesn't help that the government seems to be made up of Scots tho! Gordon Brown as chancellor of the exchequer put up tax on beer and wine but has left whisky the same for the past few years, strange that! Judi

It's amazing how many people don't even know what the 4th of July is celebrating. It's just a day for fireworks and barbecues for most people. People need to go back to our origins to see what our ancestors fought for and get back what has been lost. Just waving the flag and cheering our troops is just a small portion of importance of the holiday.
I'm off the soapbox now!
