Himalayan Blue Poppy
Feast yours eyes on this! It's not an orchid, but equally as exotic (and often even more difficult to grow!). I may live in one of the coldest areas of North America, but we can grow these beauties!

Wow, you got a blue poppy to grow!
I've tried to grow two of these along with about 10-15 other people down here, and they sure don't like it. Orchids are easier.

I purchased one last spring, it bloomed and rotted in pot very shortly after blooming. They are spectacular though.

I just love these babies! The secret, apart from they like cool, is to stop them flowering the first year, or if you must make sure they have at least 3 growing points, Judi

Individual blooms last about a week but the display will last about 4.

So, how did you do it?
Wonder if I could do it too. . .here in Colorado at 8,600 feet? What conditions do they require?
