What a sad story. An entire stand destroyed in one fell swoop.
These are highly prized Paphs in the trade! These can command up to $300 or more for a good sized specimen!!!
What a waste, that colony would've made the prices of these orchids drop significantly in a very short order of time had some of them made it into the trade via the plants themselves or by seeds. Relocating them to another nearby location can be done fairly easily too. They would've eventually been taken off the endangered species list, because then they'd not only be prevalent in nature, but they'd be plentiful in the trade as well.
How incredibly frustrating!
