Slime mold is neither animal or plant. Some of them you can actully watch moving! It isn't a true mold.
I have a fish tank too. My angel fish keep having babies, but after a few days they get tired of looking after them and eat them.

You may be able to collect and propagate slime molds in petri dishes.

However, mushrooms you can grow in your yard. There is a place that sells mushrooms to the mushroom afficionado.

Fungi Perfecti: the finest mushroom products for home and garden, farm and forest, people and planet

There are mushrooms sold for a whole different reason. You only have to look to the "Tale of Blue Honey".

I'm back from the show. No slime mold. I almost just bought the epidendrum orange ball, but then saw ctna. why not. He had brought only 1 blue vascostylis. I want red! I guess I'll have to mail order when it warms up.

My brother likes those kind of mushrooms. He wants to come out here and gather them to sell for his trip back to Ontario! He probably wouldn't find any, and would end up living with us. I think we're safe for now. He couldn't take his 4 ft. iguana on his motercycle that far!

hahaha - I have a brother that fits that description, minus the iguana.
I use to live way out in the woods and across the dirt road lived a bunch of cows. I've seen more then my share of mushroom hunters stumbling around with garbage bags in the wee hours. I've also seen those same mushroom hunters chased all over that pasture by the bull the owner kept with those cows. That bull was infamous for sneaking up and trying to kill anything on two legs
