Wow, Congrats!!!

My wife and I had a modest wedding, 70 guests. We found a great looking venue at a local golf club/city park. All in all it came out to significantly under 10K. So yea, there is hope for classy weddings that don't cost you your first born.

That would be very nice indeed... It is very beautiful up there and it was a perfect place for proposal. Unfortunately to get to Marble Falls everyone would have to hike almost 4 miles from campgrounds with a net elevation of 1400 ft. That would exclude our grandmothers who are wheelchair bound and few other family members who aren't in great health.

Congrats on your engagement! So wonderful!
Well, the wedding will only be as expensive as you want it to be We had a very, very small one, because neither of us wanted to get into debt, and I honestly just didn't want the stress of such a big day. I have to say, I enjoyed every second of it.
Whatever you decide to do, it'll be one of the happiest days of your life!

That is great news! I'm so happy for yous! Congratulations.
It is a lot of fun just spending time planning the wedding. And its not that hard to save a lot of money by doing little things yourself. We will have our 5th anniversary now in May and I would do it all again. This time with more orchids!

Congratulations on your engagement! *cheers* I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary. This is a special, fun time, so definitely enjoy it!

Wedding costs can definitely get super pricey. My husband and I had a destination wedding in Vegas with close family and friends, followed by a reception a few months later. I did my own flowers, favors, hair and make-up. I chatted up my local flower shop and wound up getting free impromptu lesson on how to wrap my own bouquet, boutonierres, corsages on the spot. Fortunately, I had my phone so I took pictures of each step along the way. Youtube videos help too! Then I ordered the flowers I wanted from a local flower shop for my own bouquet, making sure that I did not mention the "w" word (wedding) when comparison shopping, so I wouldn't get charged a fortune. For my bridesmaids and maid of honor, I just picked up local flowers from a local market and wrapped them the night before. I paid $60 for a lesson on hair and make-up from a make-up artist I liked and showed pictures of what looks I wanted to achieve. You can also save if you get married during non-peak wedding season.

Since you plan on inviting 30 guests, have you considered having a reception in a restaurant that is meaningful to both of you? My sister had a beach wedding with about 60 guests or less and she wound up booking a cute, small restaurant not far from a local bed and breakfast where she was staying. It had meaning to her and her husband, because it was one of their favorite places to go. I don't know, just a thought?

Whatever you do, Definitely have fun and try not to get stressed out! What's important is that you two will be celebrating your love for one another and spending your lives together. It will be one of the happiest days of your life!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You all have such great ideas. I actually ordered a great book called "wedding bargains" and it's definitely been helpful so far. A great read.

Again thank you everyone for encouragement and congratulations.
