Blooms of the 2011 growing season thread
Common guys, share your early spring flowers. Daffodils, Crocus, Forsythias, Galanthus(Snow drops)?
I know you got them.
So I will post some that people would usually just walk past.
Pieris japonica in the Ericacaea
Red maple
Lonicera fragrantissima.
same L. fragrantissima with House Finch
And I know this is not a flower because it is not a flowering plant, but it is a sign of spring.
Male cones of the yew (Taxus sp) ready to throw out their pollen.

Nice photo's! Loving the Bird!
Here's a small contribution from me. My first Daffodil open bloom this year and the inherited Cherry blossom tree.

Nice!!! Our Daffodils are out but our Cherry Trees are still trying to get there. And to make it worse, today and tomorrow wet snow and near freezing temps.

Hello Here are a few from my garden. I only had time for a quick photo shoot just now so there's probably lots more I missed.
To start I thought I'd show you some ladybirds (ladybugs for those in the US ) on my sage plant - it's absolutely covered today!
Also, there're some pale cream/orange daffs, some hyacinths, a picture of one of the Hepatica transsilvanica De Buis plants which is due to go under the damson tree (when I get a moment to clear the spot and plant them) and a picture each of Corydalis solida Purple Beauty and G P Baker (which are also due for under the damson

I live on the southeast corner of the UK and the weather the last few days has been very warm for this time of year (yesterday the car said it was 17 degrees C). It's apparently all due to change back to normal (8/10 degrees or so) at the weekend and we get our fair share of frosts and snow. However, the one thing we don't get very much of in my corner of the world, is rain! (we are statistically one of the driest, if not the driest part of the country.

Early Spring Flowers thread for 2011
Here, the wisterias are almost over the hump. Daffodils are going the way, too. The magnolias are done for but the azaleas are coming on strong. Bridal wreath spireas are blooming nicely. Crape myrtles are just starting to leaf out and my Brunfelsia (sp?) (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) will bloom soon. Hippeastrums are sending up buds. My only Scilla Peruviana is in full bloom. Ya know, I should get out there and take some pictures.

To be honest the Cherry Tree surprised me. We have a few round the local area and mine seems to be one of the few in bloom, only opened up yesterday.
Hopefully weather will pick up for you soon and you can enjoy your tree too

Loving the photo's! Those ladybirds are brilliant. You'll have to do another picture when the Hepatica is in situ

Will do Hopefully, I'll do it this weekend, but they won't look too spectacular as I'm trying them out in this position, which is quite empty at the mo, and hoping they'll grow in and spread (it's good fertile ground so fingers crossed!). I'd love to get some of the Japanese double ones, but they are too expensive for garden plants. Especially as you never know what the weather and nature will do - imagine spending £45 or even £120 on a plant and then having them trashed by foxes (which happens more around here than I'd like!)
