Desert Rose ~ Adenium obesum
I'm certain if I wasn't so lazy I could find more information on this forum for this plant so appease me and give me some cultural help to keep this plant growing. It is something I have wanted for some time and found one for $13.00 at Walmart in Florida on my recent visit. It is in a 6" pot with a large multi-tuberous root and branches and flowers and I really want to get it to grow and reflower so help out and share with me some cultural experiences.... Please! I will post a picture soon.

Not sure if this will work but I want to get this back on the list and maybe some suggestions as to care and how to re-flower this plant. I know it is a succulent and in that regard will take careful watering and lots of sun but maybe some of you have grown this plant and have some thoughts for me.... not that I'm a stranger to growing succulents, as some of you know. So don't leave me hanging...

Nice one, Howard! Unfortunately I lost mine. Been waiting for the local Lowes to get them in and discount them -- have no desire to pay $25-$30 for them (which is what they were originally priced at last time I saw them at the BBSs up here)>

I'm going back down to Fl at the end of the month. Walmart had them for $13.00. If there are any left, you want one? The Home Depot down there usually has them but don't know $$'s. Say, on another note, you didn't get back to me about your Haworthia. The one I have for you is H. cuspidata.

You could also try to grow them from seed. You can check ebay or some forums for trade. It will take longer but they grow faster than orchids...

Just out of curiosity, Gloria, what's that all about... "giving back...."? Were you you a naughty little girl???? I know I was a naughty little boy on another orchid forum and got banished to the hills! No problem because I don't feel I'm missing out on much and this forum is SOOOOO much better!!!!
Where in Canada do you hail? Maybe close enough to the Detroit area???? I could being one back from Florida on my next trip.

These plants are VERY easy to grow and bloom. You have a seed plant which has the bulbous base in lieu of a cutting which will never get bulbous. They are members of the oleander family but I keep mine like my cactus with a sandy soil that drains pretty well. They go outside in the summer on my South porch and bloom all summer long. To keep the plant from getting "leggy", trim it like a bonsai but WEAR gloves, the sap is quite poisonous. I feed with regular houseplant food.

Here in Florida you set it outside. Done. In Michigan I'm not so sure.
