Default Gerbera

My crazy Gerbera that I grew from seed years ago bloomed during January, just before the coldest part of the winter this year. It usually waits till early spring to bloom. It puts up one flower which keeps well and when that one bloom is finished that's all for the year.
Other Gerberas I have bought as plants do not do as well, maybe, as someone mentioned they prefer cool weather. By the time they are available here it may be too late for them to survive our very hot summers.
