Default Tropical Rhododendron, R. Little Bo-Peep

Hi all,

Here is my newest addiction. Vireya Rhododendrons! These are tropical Rhododendrons that come for South East Asia and are often epiphytes like orchids. Except their roots are not like those of orchids. This is my first Vireya bloom. Not my doing, but so exciting to see. This flower is very dull compared to the others in this subgenus of Rhodies.

Ooooooh! I LOVE Vireyas!!!! And yours may not be as flashy as the typical bright coral or red ones, but it's still very beautiful.

I'm still working up the courage to try these myself. I've drooled over them for years but I already have so many plants. Maybe when I get my own place. lol.

I look forward to hearing how yours does!

Marie Selby Botanic Gardens in Sarasota has a large waterfall in one of the main public greenhouses. There are many kinds of epiphytes on the rock walls of the waterfall that have been there for years including several old Vireya Rhodendrons that are spectacular.

Default Update, second bloom

I didn't know there was a second bloom in progress. Not the best picture, but just wanted to share. A second bloom really does add to the beauty.
