Fuzzy Wazzy
This is just a tease of what will come.... probably in another month depending on the weather. I know it isn't much now, but the wait will be worth it, so stop back soon

For a second I couldn't figure out what those brown fuzzy things were! Looks freaky. I've never had much luck with cacti, I think I neglect them too much...

Neglect is the best thing you could do to get them to grow well. Too much attention and watering usually leads to their demise!

I'm terrible with plants that aren't orchids. The cacti sometimes go 3-4 months without water, don't get enough light and are generally shoved in a corner out of sight when the orchids need the space. It's a shame, I have a tall-ish one that makes tons of pretty pink flowers if I remember to leave it in the sun. I also have a cute little succulent (no clue what it is) that I got as a baby 4-5 years ago, wish it would bloom soon....
Edit: checked through some plant notes, the succulent is Aloe variegata.

Aloe is a tough plant to flower without lots of light and food... then it is, IMHO, just a so-so flower. usually orange base to a green~white tip. it's something I don't collect, although I have a hybrid of a Gasteria and Aloe

Well at least the plant itself is very pretty, so I guess I'm not missing out on much. Light it's getting, it sits on a table in front a window that gets full south sun most of the day. Just isn't getting much food.

very cool - took me a bit to figure it out too - can't wait to see pix of it blooming!
Camille, I think Aloe have to be a certain size before they bloom - I have one bloomed for the first time last summer after several years, blooming again now, but it grows outside. Agree with Howard about blooms being less than spectacular, tho I am happy to see it bloom, and the hummingbirds like it

But, if we all like Cacti and the like, maybe I should start posting pics of all my Lithops in flower!
