For a second I couldn't figure out what those brown fuzzy things were! Looks freaky. I've never had much luck with cacti, I think I neglect them too much...

Neglect is the best thing you could do to get them to grow well. Too much attention and watering usually leads to their demise!

I'm terrible with plants that aren't orchids. The cacti sometimes go 3-4 months without water, don't get enough light and are generally shoved in a corner out of sight when the orchids need the space. It's a shame, I have a tall-ish one that makes tons of pretty pink flowers if I remember to leave it in the sun. I also have a cute little succulent (no clue what it is) that I got as a baby 4-5 years ago, wish it would bloom soon....

Edit: checked through some plant notes, the succulent is Aloe variegata.
