Yup, you are the first leg of their journey. They will reproduce and their offspring will move further north. Then they will reproduce and their offspring will move further north (possibly NYC, by July or so). Then they will reproduce, their offspring will move to Canada. Those that make it to Canada will return south all the way to Mexico. There, they will rest throughout the next winter and move back north. Basically, the butterflies you see were born in Canada and slept all winter in Mexico.
