A Pic of my other hobby (Embroidary)
This picture is of Lathyus latifolius or sweet pea, on 36 threads to an inch linen. That's 1298 stitches to a square inch. 14 colors used. Pattern is by Maureen Appleton, The Hearts Content, Inc. I don't normally stitch that small. There's about 60 hours work invested in that little piece. Most of the one I do take years to complete and are much larger.
I tried to take some of the ones on my wall but they are behind glass. Can't get a good picture where there is not glare. I'll try again when the light is better if you're interestedI seeing more.

That's awesome! You must have great eyesight!
Mine is decent and yet when I've attempted cross-stitch or embroidery, it was too much of a strain.
I'd love to see more pics

Wow, excellent needle work. Gave it a try back in the day but my patience ran out. Very envious of those who can stitch for hours on end. Nice work

How many yarn did you use in this pattern?

More embroidary
This first one was the most boring pattern I've ever done and its a whopping 400 x 360 stitches. Took me a year and a half.
The next one was lots of fun. The store front is on one piece of cloth and the windows are cut out. The flowers in the windows and door are on a second piece of fabric behind it. I don't know how the framer was able to get the two lined up so perfectly.
Thanks for the compliments. I work under a lamp with a magnifying glass plus reading glasses.

Its DMC embroidary cotton floss or DMC thread for you in England and else where. I have a pattern I am going to be doing that is all done with silk. Very expense project. Got a couple more colors and the cloth to buy though.

All your work is beautiful ..
I love the sweet pea on the linen and your sampler came out nicely. The 'Flowers' is so intereting with all the stitches you used for textures and effect.
I haven't picked up a needle and cross stitched in some time. I have found needlework to be very relaxing.
Are you going to stitch some orchids next?

I used to embroider small cross stitch projects a lot when the children were small, but latterly I've found it is literally apain inthe neck and had to cut it out. Great work, Richard, I especially like "Flowers".

Beautiful pieces! Very detailed work. My eyes would go cross-eyed on me. My hobby is swedish weaving on monk cloth. Much easier on the eyes. I am very impressed with your work. Kudos to you!
