I got 2 amaryllis bulbs from Lowe's a little over a month ago. They were on sale I potted them up, put them in a south facing window and haven't watered them much. Now, all I have are leaves! I am guessing at this point niether will flower this year? I would think if they were going to I'd see at least the start of a bloom stalk by now. So what in the world did I do wrong?! And what should I do from this point?
I don't think you did anything wrong. When you buy a bulb in a store they are supposed to be ready to bloom, and usually the flower stem appears before or at the same time as the leaves. Don't give up hope though, and continue watering and fertilizing as usual. Some of my Amaryllis would bloom in spring- early summer, well after the leaves had finished growing (either as a second blooming or skipped the winter blooming).
