It's definately looking like winter. Around here, that means green. Condensation from nearly constant fog basically turns the desert into a wetland, and dormant plants spring back to life.
I'm looking for an id for the plant in the first picture. it's a climbing vine, with small white flowers, that grows from underground tubers. it produces small black berries or seeds, which look somewhat like black peppercorns. the plant is in active growth throughout winter and spring, then dies back for our dry summers. click on the image to go to flickr for a full view. (I realize it may be extremely difficult to identify without a picture of the flowers)
