Alpaca farm
Hi there!
Last week I visited at the Alpaca farm wich is located very near from my home (about 12 km). They are very cute. There are 30 alpacas and they've got very beautiful view from their pasture.

I have seen them here also.
Some people use their fur (hair) to make yarn.
I hear their wool is very soft and warm.
They also make for good pack mules (just don't tell them I said that)
And they are cute, too.
Don't alpacas spit or is that just llamas? .. :

When we were in Peru, I bought a baby alpaca sweater More for novelty then anything else. I wore it once - in Peru - 'cuz it got very cold one day and I only had t-shirts. Plus I wanted to blend in with the local 4 foot 3 population (I'm 6'3" 260lbs)

LOL Marty. Neither you nor I would blend in easily. What part of Peru, I imagine you visited the mountains. I hope to be going for the Amazon.
Cute creatures. I've heard of them before, but long ago and seemed like a dream to me. Too cool. Do they spit?

Tindo, this was a jungle trip, that's why we were not ready for mountains. Idea was 3 weeks in jungle, north of Iquitos, 2 hrs up Amazon, then Napo then a tributary called Sukasari in a primary virgin rain forest camp. Natives in grass skirts, etc. Very Cool ! After 2 weeks, we decided it would be cool to go to see Machu Picchu, we organized everything, flew to Lima, then Cuzco. Best trip ever!
Sorry for the partial thread hijack
Alpacas rock !

So alpacas don't spit
but they throw rocks?
Not sure what I would rather spend time with ..
A spitting llama or a rock lobbing alpaca :

This weekend while in Vermont we came across an Alpaca farm! I couldn't believe my eyes! An Alpaca farm in Northwestern Vermont. hehe. Well no time stop and chat, so we just kept on driving. Didn't see any Alpacas though, just rolling green knolls.

They are actually becoming very popular due to expensive wool (hair). We have Lama and alpaca both locally.
