I'm in Lakewood, far from Boulder, so all I've been able to do is worry about friends. You should have seen the huge plume of smoke though. I took pictures today, there's still a thick brown haze over the foothills.
It was rough for people in the area though, it moved so fast.

I don't think we have anyone from here that lives in the evacuation area, but I could be wrong.

I saw a video of a home burning and my heart just broke
It's unimaginable, such devestation! Life is more important than anything material but it still a huge heartbreak to lose everything you own including your harbor of safety.

I'm happy to hear that you are far from the fire but I'm not sure if we have anybody else around there...I certainly hope not...

Stay Safe!

Yeah, that's been the hardest to think about. I've only heard of one evacuee that actually had boxes next to their door in order of priority in case of a fire. Just not something most of us think to do.

It's burning worse than normal because that area (and other parts of CO) got such plentiful rain at the beginning of the season that the flowers and grasses really took off, but the month of August was so dry that all those big (now dried) plants turned into just that much more fuel to burn.
Water is CO's most valuable resource, and when we don't get it, we see what nature can do.
