I would def repot, and soak the medium in it before planting. Let it cool of course.

It's a gorgeous plant! I see why you're attached!

boiling water will kill anything basically, but I would add physan if you have a chance.

you could also try to propagate it from a couple of healthy leaves so if everything fails you have a couple of clones

Izzie I used to grow Av a lot and used methelyene blue like you get for ick in aquariums in my wtaer I used for rooting worked great just use it like you would for the fish and they root well with almost 100% sucess. works in water also to kill fungus in soil when used to water...at least for me.And a dab of rootone dusted on helps a lot or any good rooting compound.

You got it- I'm keeping the mother plant as long as it wants to stay here, while I try to root some leaves.

Have you tried just spraying with alcohol? I don't know much about AV but it might help.
