Curious!?
So how's it going with you guys?
I am having a partial success. I decided to just grow in the Bonsai pots I had left, so I have three growing in one oval pot, and two more each with an oval pot of their own. 4 Cayenne and one Unknown (seeds from a grocery shop bought eating one... has grown quite well though!) So far I have 9 fruits (or berries if you want to get technical) They seem to be easier to handle growing straight in the bonsai pots. The shallowness must be helping them to stay in check. As for pruning, I will wait till after the fruit has been picked and the trunk/stems are sturdier. They have suffered some neglect which couldn't be helped, but have survived none the less. So come on, you guys better have a better harvest than I!? ;) PS If you ever want to try something new do a search on "guerilla gardening" Wish I had that much time on my hands! |
i only have two left. they kept outgrowing their pots so rapidly that i got tired of repotting. and they were taking way to much of my orchid space. so i put four outside and i have to two biggest ones inside.
the two i have are in HUGE pots. the pots are probably 12" wide at the top. but they still have a while until they will up that pot! if they arent ready to be put in smaller pots by september 2011 i am giving up on them. they just take up to much space |
I cut back down some Tabasco etc down to 6/7 inches and pruned the roots for a 6" pot. no problems here. Gave one ina bonsai pot to my friend and all these are still blooming on a windowsill. Habaneros are the slowest growing but the others produce indoors in small pots.

Good to hear! What a great idea as a gift as well... I need more bonsai pots!

thanks! i think ill put them in the garde, and then if they have nice trunks by fall, ill make them into bonsai, otherwise theycan stay outside. i just dont have space!
my tabasco is still fruiting, its been fruiting forever! and still going strong |
The freeze will kill them. you can cut them small / prune roots and keep them in small pots and put them out in the spring so they will start growing early
