I'm glad I'm younger. I'm also very lucky to has one ofthe best Bonsai nurseries in the country in my area. For the open houses, world renown experts come! I got to meet David easterbrook and Jim Doyle owns it!

Yep, never start too early when it comes to Bonsai.
Try growing from seed... 8 years! Eight!.... Still not in a proper Bonsai pot!... Next Year!

If you want a good book on Bonsai, that covers most of what you need to know and has some inspirational Pictures, try:
"The Complete Book of Bonsai"
by Harry Tomlinson.
Last book issue has the: ISBN 0-86318-484-7

That was that last version, so should be cheap now. His nurseries brought out a more up to date version apparently, but the old one in my opinion is good enough!

Carissa macrocarpa.... Just had a look, Very Nice!

Well it's definitely wait and see time for me now regarding these Chillies... Grrr!

okay, i like the bottom row the best. the top row looks a bit stragly.

check these out from jim doyle's collection!

shimpaku, larch, mughos, and a pitch pine, and acer palmatum

stefpix 07-15-2010 05:42 PM

yes very nice.
for some reason I am more attracted to tropical ones like the ones they just put on display now at the BBG. The had pines, maples etc a month ago. I like them but I love the Carissa, the Ficus etc etc. I would like to see a Coccoloba uvifera aka Sea Grape.

Would be nice to grow some miniature Encyclia or something on a Ficus / Mango bonsai.

I am growing some Mangoes from seed
