Okay Gardeners- I need ideas!

I've never had to pay more than $7 for Bletilla striata.

Bletilla ochracea is a bit more.

Pleione formosana is around $10.

Pleione maculata is around $10 to $15.

Pleione maculata - Oak Hill Gardens, Santa Barbara Orchid Estate.

Pleione formosana - Santa Barbara Orchid Estate.

Bletilla striata - take your pick, alot of places sell this species including Orchard Supply and Hardware, The Home Depot, etc. It's usually sold seasonally with spring bulbs.

Bletilla ochracea - not sure yet. But it shouldn't be terribly difficult to find.

I looked everywhere that sells bulbs near me, not one had a Bletilla.

I'll take a look around.

I am totally (almost) a bulb person. So...small growing crinums, rainlilies, daffodils, ipheon uniflorum, leucojum, anything in the amaryllis family that will grow there, then there are all kinds of beautiful daylilies. One of my favorite plants is Jacobinia (Brazilian flame flower). My Sheepers catalog got here this week. That is eye candy for anyone who loves bulbs as I do.
With a bit of planning you can have a three season display even in that small space.
Then there are lovely annuals that can attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
And, remember, if a certain plant does not seem to be what you wanted, surely someone in your gardening community will be glad to take it off your hands.

What a splendid idea! I do love rainlilies.

I'll second Royal's suggestion. Both places have the more unusual types of bulbs. Also, my good buddy in Florida, Nestor, at Bulbsnmore. He also sells on eBay. He will send you a CD with pictures of what he sells.
