Pitcher plant

I have a pitcher plant that is growing lots of new pitchers, old pitchers are half dried up, when do you remove old pitchers or do you. ? Do they like to be misted.? I have only one in the orchid shadehouse and it seems to be doing fine. I have baby lizards hiding in the leaves trying to catch the baby flies before they enter the pitcher. Rather interesting how life evolves.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that, I wasn't getting any answers in social group. I'll check out that web sight. I saw a beautiful dutchman's pipe the other day is that in this family?

I have a Nepenthes alata that's planted in plain ole coir. It gets thoroughly watered every 2 to 3 days...not to the point of being soggy, but just evenly moist. I avoid letting the potting medium completely dry out. My plant loves humidity and misting and a little dappled sunlight. My mister conked out so now I just hose down the foliage once or twice daily. The pitchers stay healthier and stay around longer if they're kept about 1/3 full of water. Older pitchers will naturally die back as new ones develop. I clip the drying pitchers off where their stem attaches at the tip of the leaf. Fertilizer is not required if the pitchers are doing their job.

Dutchman Pipe's are not carnivorous plants. They're good at fooling laymen though!

I don't have a Dutchman's Pipe, but my friend has one. Their blooms are awesome and look carnivorous but they're not.
