Default Medinilla Magnifica

Just thought I would share... as I'm too excited I actually got this to rebloom (3 flower spikes)
I was given this 4 years ago;in flower. It then sat there nearly another 2 years .. I had problems finding out it's growing conditions & finally decided to send a mail to the Growers address on the Tag as even I could see it needed a repot... I got the info from the grower himself (only one in Europe to my knowledge..)
well it's shown it's appreciation in being re-potted.. here's a couple pics..

Having recently seen some at the local florists I realise I now have to give it more humidity as the leaves on my plant are not as big as ones I have seen at the florists...
(although at least it's flowered again )
I'll see how I get on for next years blooms..
PS: I've just noticed there's cat hairs on the photos...... (I have persian cats who love my plants! )

Pretty nice for a non-orchid. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful plant! My mom wants one of these, but they get pretty large, so she's not sure where she'd put it. Out of curiosity, how were you growing it before, and what advice did the grower give you? That was very kind of him to reply, not many growers do when you try to contact them.

Hi Camille, I did not repot & then didn't flower ...he told me to repot into peat/sphagh medium.. Took me ages to find in france... Finally found 'tourbe blonde de Sphaignes' and repotted..6 months later 3 spikes!..
It likes to always be moist (not wet) and yes it apparently grows big but I have read that you just cut down the bigger growths after flowering to keep managable... I have never dared cut any of mine off for now...
