Venting for the day, computer problem
Tell me why my Wife stayed up all night working on a power point presentation for bio class on symbiosis, and saved the presentation multiple times including twice in front of me. And then she accidentally closed the power point thinking she was closing something else, and pufff, no more power point. We looked everywhere. Documents, desktop, recent files, power point program itself. We tried searching for it under the name she had saved it under. She went to school crying and shaking and we had to pay a cab tons of money so she could get the luxury of sitting down and attempt to quickly remake the power point. She was going to be early, she had a beautiful presentation, and she did everything right. And still, the computer royally screwed her.
Any comp experts out there have any clue?

Wow. One of the nastier computer stories I've heard in a while. I would suggest two things (and presuming that the computer is a PC and not a Mac). First, Windows Housecleaning: Go to Start, choose search, all files and folders. As your search, enter, "*.tmp, *.spl, ~*.*". (This will find all temp files, all stalled print files, and all crashed files.) When the search is complete, delete everything found. Then empty the trash folder and restart the computer.
Once the computer restarts, go back to search, and enter "*.ppt". This will find any PowerPoint files. Hopefully, the one you are looking for will be there. And just enter "powerpoint to locate the actual program.

do you know where other power point files are saved? try checking there. i dont have power point but i know a good bit about computers. I suggest you try looking in the recycle bin. if the file somehow accidentally got deleted, it should still be in the recycle bin. and you should be able to restore it, assuming that you havent emptied the recycle bin since you lost the file.

Computers always go down when you most need them- I keep meaning to swear off computers, but obviously I haven't cause I'm still writing messages.
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's problem, but you sound like a great husband. Glad to hear she did well on her presentation.
