I don't know about the thriving on neglect, but they do like to be pot-bound. Mine always flowered best with good care, lots of light and being tight in the pot.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your clivia.
I water mine very infrequently, fertilize perhaps once a year. It skipped blooming last year but is sending up a spike now.

Hi,
I have an orange clivia. It's a very common one. It was a baby from my friends plant. I have it about 4 years. I'm looking forward to it developing some off spring sometime soon, hopefully.

I have seen some clivias in bloom at grocery stores, for sale ofcourse. They are very nice!! Mine definetly need repotting. Their roots are above the soil in one pot, and the other, I don't know who potted it, but the top 2 inches is nothing but little styrofoam drainage balls.
