Default Emily Dickinson

What do you guys think about her?
like about her (and her poetry)?
know about her?
favorite poems?

I'm doing a project about Emily Dickinson, and thought it would be interesting to see what the general public knows and thinks.

(she's my favorite poet )
(not looking for sites or info, just curious and interested in what others think)

well....did anybody know that she liked orchids?
And she grew them, along with many other sensitive plants in her conservatory at Amherst.

When she died, she had a "pink cypripedium" tucked with some violets at her neck.

One of my favorite poets, Izzie. Did a paper on her years ago when I was in college.

Hi Izzie,
I live in Amherst MA, where the "Belle of Amherst" lived. I have a friend who is a professor of geosciences and is one of the originators of the Gaia Hypotheses (yes, that is a real scientific idea, not just a new age thing). We joke that she lives next door to Emily, because her home is next to the Dickinson family estate. One evening after dinner, she walked me out around the Dickinson yard and recited poems of Emily Dickinsons at various places in the yard. I don't really know much poetry, but it was pretty special. I particularly liked the blend of the poetry and the natural setting- sort of "naturalized" poetry, analogous to naturalized planting.
There is an Emily Dickinson weekend here in Amherst every May. I might be able to put you up if you decided to visit.
