if mine could only bloom soon! how long to the flowers last? love the orange / red one. Are these hybrids? do you have tags? after all does it matter? Do you have any Hylocereus/ dragon fruits? last summer i sowed some seeds of Dragonfruit I got at a market in Chinatown and some Prickly Pear [Opuntia ] and they are all growing.

The flower life depends, though most are open 2-3 days (although the white one in the picture typically only stays open for a day, but makes up for it by throwing many buds on the plant that open over a period of days) These are both hybrids; the white one is Creme de Menthe & the orange one if Flirtation. I believe that I only have one unnamed epi in my collection, though when it blooms I might be able to rectify that. I do not have any hylocereus, though I do have what I suspect is a hylocereus cross, going by the looks of the fruit. I grow quite a few other types of cacti as well; I have quite a few different opuntia too. Good luck with yours!

My Epi s are all no IDs... let me know if you have any spare cuttings from trimming unruly plants. I have no pinks - love that Waterlily and all the others. I have some extra Hylocereus if you are interested. came with no tag but pretty one is purple haze.
Do you get your Opuntias to bloom?

My opuntias will bloom usually starting at the end of May, then off and on throughout the summer; some of them produce fruit (though most of it is seedier than anything that you can buy at the market ) PM me your address and I'll get you some trimmings at the end of the month; I don't know for sure what I will have, but I will be repotting in about 3 weeks when all are done blooming, and I am sure I will snap off a branch or three. Do you have any selenicereus? I have macdonaldii (i'll attach a pic from last summer) which i can definately send you--the blooms are usually mid june, and about 12-15" across; it is a night bloomer, but it does tend to ramble and get quite large.
At any rate, keep us posted as to how your plants progress,
Adam

I am in a hurry - I need to take some pictures and post them will PM my address, I do not have the Selenicereus. Do they still bloom if you keep them trimmed small? To bloom do tehy need to get enough light that the leaves / stems get to look a bit reddish?
Thanks for your offer

I've not tried keeping my selenicereus trimmed small, though it has bloomed when it was about 3' tall (it's now about 8', so small is relative...) Most of my epis that are growing in high light bloom much more profusely than those which i have under shade. Anyone else notice this?

Epi Sky Raider
Just opening up, this is another first bloomer for me; I think that I prefer the "fuller" blooming hybrids, then again I'll have to see how long the flowers last on this one. Great color though.
Enjoy!

And another
Another first bloomer for me, this one is Mad Cap; great color, a slight fragrance and sort of not fully opening...
Enjoy!

Orange! First bloom for this one, and I love the color! I hope she gives me more than just the one bloom next spring.
