I don't know that perlite would keep it moist enough, and I'm not a fan of vermiculite.
Perlite floats when you water, so I'm not the biggest fan of that either, since it can be a hassle.

If you want to go with a different mix, then there is a store near where I live that has the peat mix specifically for carnivorous plants and it is inexpensive for a small bag. If you want me to, I could send you a bag of it. This site might help you:

What picture are you looking at? I hadn't posted any by this post.
If it turns out that the peat mix will be my best bet, I might have to take you up on that offer.
AMAZING SITE! I can't believe I didn't find that during my searches for info! Thank you so much!

I was referring to my plant, not a photo. My plant is in the medium it came in and it looks like peat/sand, but don't know for sure.

Sundews tend to do best when they are kept in a watering trey, and both of the above mediums actually work great as wicking agents, especially when mixed together

Ah, I see! I'm still doing some research and asking around, I'll keep these in mind when I start experimenting.
eta: if you look at the pictures in my new thread, I have the pot in a little reservoir right now, will that work once I choose a medium?

If mine IS a species (dont' know how common that is in the CP industry...), I think it might be D. adelae...
D. capensis is my favorite too, I can't wait to have one someday, if I can keep this one happy.
