:/ You're SURE this isn't harmful?
Should I monitor the pH more closely? Will cyanobacteria affect that?

I forgot...

Remember how fast bacteria grow. Their populations increase non-linearly, it's exponential.

Cyanobacteria isn't going to kill Horus (he's beautiful btw, I always wanted a good half moon).

I keep tetras! Tetras are generally not as easy to keep as Bettas.

I keep a small school of Rummy Nose Tetras (Hemigrammus bleheri). I've had them for 4 yrs (maybe more, not sure, lost track).

I've had Cardinal Tetras for nearly as long. I now only have one. I think many of them just died of old age.

I had a group of Ember Tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae). Again, I think most died of old age, as I now only have one.

I've kept saltwater fish and live corals. I've propagated live reef building corals before.

Cyanobacteria is unsightly in a tank, but for the most part it will not harm fish (it might overgrow corals if you allow them to). They're much easier to control in a freshwater tank than a saltwater one.

Try going to a water store and changing with that water for a while and see how things go.

You should get a medal for putting up with me, Philip.
I like tetras, but I've always been drawn to....'smarter fish'? I've done well with gouramis and angels, and have always had bettas, but decided to do away with the other fish and just have a nice betta in the tank- develops a real personality, and simpler to care for.

Would you believe I practically stole him from Petco- he was mislabeled as a regular betta splendens. So sneaky.

I wish I could find a plant that wouldn't mind such bright light in the tank. besides anacharis or whatever.

Thank you.

You're amongst a couple of people here on the OB who've really made me re-examine my hobbies and passions in life.

I didn't realize how many things I had going until I saw it in writing.

...Hey...

You indirectly callin' me stupid through my choice of fish...

Tetras don't seem to be very intelligent, but they have a clear social order. They're very social fish, their interactions with one another are not simple (in other words, they don't just swim back and forth in the tank).

They're all nice fish. Had all of them at one point in time (did the whole community tank thing).

I had a breeding pair of angels lay eggs on a piece of slate once. But I wasn't able to get the eggs to hatch.

I never really kept too many bettas. I had problems keeping them alive for a long period of time.

As much as I'd like to say I have an easy time with tetras, that's not true. It was only after several tries that I figured out how to keep them alive for very long periods of time. It's a skill. Always room for improvement.
