I defend my dissertation on Thursday...
My greenhouse has been a refuge these last 5 years and I have gone out there to decompress, lately, because the nerves and the crappy adviser comments and the like. I would love all the good thoughts and smiles and support I can get. I know my orchids will still be there after this is over...and whether or not I pass...but I have those crazy moments that I will be sucked into another dimension, never to be heard from again ....yeah, not sleeping well, lately, either. "Irregardless" (as one of the profs is fond of saying), next week at this time, it will be done...pending no major disasters, but let's not go there. It will be nice to pay more attention to the plants, the house, the spouse, my health....

I was involved in the design and construction of an instrument to study molecular energies....really, I don't want to have to wake anyone up!

Hang in there, Vanessa! You are almost to the finish line. I know what you mean about the orchids being a refuge. It is that way for most of us. Good luck on your dissertation. Now take a deep breath and relax....

You go, girl! Just relax, and try to get your committee members to argue with each other. I had a friend whose dissertation defense was cut short by her going into labor- she passed, and got a kid out of it to boot!

THanks Connie!
Someone suggested I make snack food for them, since it's in the afternoon and....I had visions of them suspecting me of lacing the cookies with something and... then got to giggling to myself thinking of a little chocolate exlax .... It only seems funny in the cartoon in my head, but I will enjoy the cartoon! Especially since I am nowhere near being able to plan labor and delivery on such short notice!!
