This past fall I purchased a plant in a basket from Hawaii. Recently, while soaking the basket and plant, I noticed a small brown reptile. I tried to catch it but it fell to the floor of the greenhouse never to be seen again.... until today when I found him moving rather slowly, since the floor temp is about 50F. So does anyone know anything about this guy? Maybe someone from the Islands??? Sorry, the pics aren't my best work. Oh, yes, I think he may be missing a portion of his tail!

Sorry, no pic. Sounds like a gecko or anolis lizard.
If you really want to catch him, glue trap, and you can use some olive oil to let him go free if you don't want to kill him. Draw him to the glue trap by putting a lamp, or any light that gives off heat when its cold in your greenhouse. On the other hand, sounds like you got bugs in your greenhouse and he is feasting on those. So maybe its a good idea to just give him the heat lamp minus the glue trap.

It's probably a brown anol. They eat bugs small moths. Not a bad thing to have in your greenhouse. I sorry but I wouldn't trap it in glue it will kill itself trying to get out. We have millions here. I would just leave him alone and let him eat some of the bugs.
PS they loose there tail to distract the predator so it can get away.

This is true, it will die of exhaustion, but to properly use it you will have to rescue it within 10-20 mins of it getting caught.

Did he have legs? If not, perhaps he's a Brahminy Blind Snake, a worm looking vertebrate. This reptile was introduced to Hawaii in the 1980's, lives in soil/flowerpots, and ingest ants, termites, and anthropods. They're also Parthenogenic.

It definitely looks like a gecko to me and he's not in the best conditions. He seems a bit under nourished and with the tail missing. If plan to keep bring him inside and put him in a critter keeper with a heating pad under it covered by a towel so that it won't get too hot or an overhead incandescent light. he can eat small pin head crickets or flightless fruit flights.

I found it. Click on Howard's photobucket. The poor thing doesn't look too good with 1/2 a tail and a lump on his head. Poor baby must have had a rough trip.  Skinny too. Looks like an anole.
