I'm a snob!
To enjoy a cup of coffee it needs to be made from the highest grade Arabica beans, roasted within the last 10 days by a decent roaster, ground within the last 10 minutes using a good burr grinder, and brewed immediately prior to serving (at the proper water temperature). And don't even get me started on trying to find a decent espresso or cappuccino!
I've also been getting into purchasing the freshest herbs and spices I can find and grinding immediately before use, and I'd like to become more particular about cooking, wine, etc.
What about everyone else? Are you very particular about things other than your orchids?

This past summer I went to a coffee plantation and for lunch they served us fresh roasted coffee from their plantation which was just ground. It was good but I would not seek it out. I don't care for wine, I like beer and like a good micro brew but I also enjoy cheap beer.
But, at my house we eat almost no preprocessed food. I normally do the cooking and I try to use the freshest ingredients. It's hard to find fresh ingredients where I live without driving 40 miles so I have to take what I can get.

Okay, coffee at my place and lunch at Harry's?
I avoid processed foods too, but my husband sure likes his cheese whiz . I don't get it.

Fueling up the G4 as we speak.
I don't know about it being a snob, but rather a connoisseur.
I only eat fresh fish. Hopefully that I caught myself, but I'll gladly take from my friends if they offer. NEVER from a fish store or restaurant.
I make an exception for shellfish.

Works for me!
With the weather we're having here, I wouldn't even have to wear different clothes!

Well, the subject of coffee seemed to take over this thread and, although I like a good cup of coffee it isn't high on my list on "Has to be good".
On the other hand, in the off season for orchids (in Maine from about November to March) I collect an antique glass ware commonly referred to as Carnival Glass. In particular, vases and I am very picky as to condition.
Any one ever heard of this or even collect it?
I also have a small collection of gem stones that I add to now and then.
Gotta love those 'sparklies'!

Collecting Carnival Glass used to be very popular here in the 80's but not as much now. I used to collect Shawnee pottery but don't any more. I was also a huge Beatles fan so I collected first generation US LP's and 45's for years. I was not looking for the best but I wanted a nice complete collection. Now it sits in boxes.

WowHarry, I am surprised to hear anyone even knows what Carnival Glass is!!!
I've bought and sold two collections, now I collect only vases as they take up less room.........until you get 5 or 6 dozen.
Do you still have any Carnival? I still have all my original Beatles records too. If you want to move yours along, e-Bay is an excellent venue for sellers.
