Well, I avoided posting pictures of this guy, since he came out of a short dormancy malformed for some reason. But, here's my little Amorphophallus titanum.

A closeup of the malformation, in case anyone has an idea of what caused it..

And some unknown aroid I've had for a couple years.

Meconostigma Philodendrons

My likes tend towards the robust self-heading Philodendrons called Meconostigmas.

Here's a pic showing 3 of these aroids. Philodendron speciosum to the top, P. bipinnatifidum to the right, and the hybrid P. x evansii to the left.

Here's a fantastic specimen of P. bipinnatifidum rearing itself up in the elephant house in the National Zoo in Baltimore.

Aroids are noted for their fantastic looking leaves. here's a hybrid meconostigma:

And all meconostigma aroids have very distinctive stems, as this trio of P. bipinnatifidum shows:

Thanks...one thing I noticed that's pretty interesting...most people in this thread seem to be interested in the blooms.

I can figure this for Amorphophallus sp, but even pics of normally beautifully leaved aroids like Alocasia sp are shown as blooms, not leaves. :hmm

Ok, more stuff I grow...

This is my young Philodendron stenolobum:

This is what I hope it'll grow into:

Here's an unknown Meco Philodendron that I'm growing that was labeled as P. adamantinum, but is not. It's got these fantastic weird convoluted leaves that curl upwards, as if hands outstretched to the sky.

And some Meconostigma inflorescense that I posted in the aroid social group....

P. bipinnatifidum:

And here's my P. x evansii:

Which I hope will grow to this

Thanks Tindomul....the one I'm doting over right now is the young Philodendron x evansii...it just put out that huge leaf, and because the aroid is in a medium sized container, the huge leaf makes it look like the plant has a huge ungainly head.

I also have a hybrid Alocasia that I got when I last went to the IAS meeting auction at Fairchild Gardens. It's been putting up blooms like crazy for the last few months, and has beautiful foliage. I'll post a pic when I get home tonight.

I'm usually not into Alocasia, but this is one species I'd like to have: Alocasia robusta, with 4 m long leaves

Too bad I live in NJ and can't grow that here :(
