Haven't gotten any crypts to flower yet, going to repot some with a better substrate when I get some free time.
My Colocasia was growing in potting soil with water to the top of the soil (unless I forgot to keep it topped up) in pretty strong sun for the species (from what I've read) - almost full sun. The flower was about 9.5 inches from the base of the green... thing (haha, that's the official term I'm sure ;) ) to the tip. Leaves were around 18 inches. Going to try to get it outside earlier this year and try a bit of fertilizer to try and flower it before frost next summer. |

These are just coming into bloom for me out in the gh. I love the color! This is a mid-size plant at the moment...though I am told it can get rather large (48"+)

You are so lucky. I lost mine this summer. Failure to thrive.

This one in particular seems to want it very wet and cool...it sort of just stood still all summer, but as soon as my night temps were reliably below 55F she shot up.

Must be delicious in the GH right now. Very interesting plant, Adam.

Amorphophallus konjac
This plant has bloomed for the first time... it is normal that it blooms after dormancy, and can be keept un-potted during this time. However, once the blooming is over, the plant must be re-potted ASAP, in order to allow the new leaf and roots to grow...
It is a stinker, but not as strong as I had thought... Amorphophallus konjac on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Amorphophallus konjac on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Wow, very cool!!!
Is it a real stinker? By the way, I think I will start a social group for Aroids. I'l let you all know when its ready. |
Awesome idea Tindomul. I have been obsessed with Aroids for a few years now. Arisaemas are one of my personal faves, and I have a numberr of different species in my garden outside. My favourite indoor aroid is Alocasia amazonica. Gorgeous foliage on it.

Come all ye faithful. I have created the group and its public so you can just join in.
