Tommyr: So jealous! Where would you find something like that? I'm sure they're not very common.

slipperfreak: Very nice. I just planted Arisaema triphyllum this summer outside so as long as it hasn't been eated by squirrels I hope I'll see it again this spring... Yours are the tropical sort though right? A. candidissimum f. album is my fav of those, very elegant looking and love the white stripes especially once you get the white on white at the top of the spathe.

Found them on ebay. I only do "buy it now"s, I have no time or nerves to mess with auctions.

Very nice Tommy. I have grown many species of Amorphs over the years. Most I have now are hardy so I don't have to bring them in.A konjac grows like a weed but I love it. I don't get enough sun for them to get very big but I may just pull one up and plant it in a container next year to see how big it will get. For those who might want to try one. They can often be found in Indian markets cheap. So if you have a nice one nearby you may want to try there.

Mine are actually not tropical but rather warm temperate. Some of them (including A. candidissimum) can be grown in your area. I bring most of mine in for the winter in my zone 3 garden, though. The approximate hardiness zones (according to Plant Delights Nursery) for these species are:

A. sikokianum - zone 4
A. kiushianum - zone 7
A. thunbergii ssp. urashima - zone 5
A. candidissimum - zone 5

I have overwintered A. sikokianum outdoors here before.

I have some A. triphyllum too, but I couldn't find the pics! I have some pics of my A. ringens around here somewhere too...

Well I dug up my Amorphophallus paeoniifolius bulbs for the first time after 10-12 years and found many little bulbs and few big one's. I decided to move them further away from the house as my wife threaten to pour perfume on it next time it flower. LOL The large one is 7 inches wide and the smaller one is 4-1/2 inches. Also a picture of last years plant and flower

Holy cow is that big brownish thing in the third pic the flower? That's amazing! I've never seen this species before.

Alright!!! My indoor pots are blooming. I also planted one on my college campus, hopefully somewhere where it won't be mowed. I don't know how well they do with freezing temps, But I do know that they go through a winter rest.
