Question Items for SALE on Forums???

Hi Folks,
I would like to know who these people are posting clothing, boots etc. etc. for sale on different OB Forums. When you click on a post you get some items for sale. Its frustrating and shouldn't they use the classifieds. One day they had posted on as many as 6 different forums. Is anyone else annoyed by this or is it just me?
Would love to get input from others.
Sheridan

Sheridan - yes it is annoying. That's spam and the spammers get banned

at the top of each post is a little bar with 2 icons at the right hand side. one of those icons (the red and yellow one) is for adding an infraction, the other(white triangle) is for reporting the post to the moderators.
If you add an infraction for spam, that user will immediately be banned from the forum. A moderator will check on it later, to determine if the ban should be permanent.
If you're not sure the user should be banned from the forum, report the post, and the moderators will decide what to do about it.

As Kip said, if you spot one of these given then either an infraction or report the post.

When you do either of these a message will be sent to the moderators and one of us will come and delete the post and ban the user who posted them.

We have zero tolerance of span and they are removed as soon as possible and banned permenantly.

But they keep coming back and it's one of those never ending battles

My impression is that there is some in Canada who keeps spamming under different names. Is it possible to screen new members and try to prevent this?

I don't think we need to screen everybody...the mods are always around. If anybody sees spam or anything inappropriate in our forums, click on the "report" or "infraction" button and we'll take care of the rest. It gets removed pretty quickly

I wasn't suggesting the mod or admins are lax - the spam is ALWAYS very quickly removed and the spammers banned. It's just that I've seen a series of spammers who are obviously the same person or persons and wondered if there was any way to block them. These idiots really make me angry because it seems they're just trying to be annoying. Surely no one even looks at the merchandise they are trying to sell.

I understood what you were saying. I just don't think we should have to change the way registration is done (if it's even an option with the system OB uses ).

It is definitely annoying but it gives us mods something to do since we really don't have problems with our members
