Awesome! They're one of my favorite plants at this time of year. What color is it? Mine 4 should be starting buds within a few weeks. They bloom like clockwork every year either the week before or after christmas. I have red, white, pink and salmon colored.

Don't know what color it is. It was given to me a couple of months ago. I believe that the person that gave it to me said red, I hope its red because all the pics I see of the reds look amazing.

Looking good!!! Mine is budded, too. I love these old fashioned plants. Show us a picture when the buds open!

I've done some reading and I guess one way to tell the colors when not in bloom is to look at the teeth on the leaves. One kind have almost no teeth and are of a certain color others have very pointed teeth and are another color. Does this hold true with the different colors of cacti you have? If so what would you predict the color of mine to be? Just for the fun of it!

Did you give a cool/ cold treatment? or dark? or did it rebloom just with no tricks? indoors/outdoors?
since yr in jaxv. i guess outside and maybe you get some nice cool temperatures at night?

I think that the blooming trigger for these is the shortening of the daylength. Longer nights will induce blooming. I read that cooler temps will also induce blooming, but mine are at the same temperature all the time.

Cooler temps and shorter days are what trigger budding for mine, usually around Thanksgiving is when I see buds forming. It's hot here in this part of Fla. until around Thanksgiving. The weather is just now beginning to cool, slightly.

Nice work! I have one that started budding in late august and the first flower opened a couple days ago, it still has many small buds that will probably last through thanksgiving.
This summer was wacky down here we had drops into the 50's on some nights i guessed it triggered my little cactus to bud. But this can only mean one thing ... Christmas is just around the corner (aka time to treat ourselves with more plants)!
