Jade Vine really popping now!
This show just gets better and better. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would get this many flowers off of this vine.
Remember, I have a vine up for trade!

Realy cool flower, I'm not familiar with this one so thanks for introducing it to me.
Love your jungle, I keep expecting to see a monkey swinging through there.

Tindo,
you are looking for the large turquoise racemes of flowers hanging down everywhere. They are about 2 feet long. There are maybe 6 in this photo.
The color of the Jade Vine (turquoise) is considered unique in the plant world. That's why the vine is so expensive. Its also rare, it comes from the Phillipines and has never been successfully tissue cultured. It is exceptionally difficult to propagate from cuttings, and viable seed is almost non-existant. The only other plant that has a flower with a color close to it is Puya beretoniana, which has a very small blue-green flower close to turquoise.
Jade Vines are true rainforest/jungle "lianas". They develop into huge rope like vines that can bear the weight of an animal swinging on them. The trunks on mine have a diameter now of maybe 5-6 inches, and they have been planted for 3 years.
It is always shocking to me that when I offer one in trade I have very few takers.

here is a close up. The flowers at the top are fully open and resemble claws. The ones at the bottom have not fully opened yet
