A sad anniversary
Today is the anniversary of a terrible day in our lives...
let us never forget those who perished and how every one of our lives was changed in an instant.
Be good to each other and let's make this a better world
God Bless us all

I still remember the shock of watching the news.

It's scary but I still remember every moment of that day and the weeks that followed. From where I was in Staten Island, we could see all the smoke...and then they closed down the island because there were other warnings in the area. We were locked on the island with no way to leave and had jets flying directly over us! Scary stuff! Many members of my family spent time there afterwards for the cleanup. My husband spent the first week there driving the sanitaion trucks which were loaded with who knows what.
My sister-in-law was missing for the first 6 or 7 hours and we were all freaking out but luckily she was finally able to contact us and tell us that she had been standing across the street, waiting for the light to change so she could go into the building when it happened! We did lose a few friends that day
The devestation didn't end on that day...many of the people who were part of the cleanup are not gravely ill. a friend's husband is nowterminally ill and they trace it back to that horrific day.
I still can't watch any of the film coverage, it makes me physically ill.

It must have been horrible for you to see the smoke Sue and lose people you knew. What a horrible day that was, I hate thinking about it. I'm originally from Fairfield CT, 1h from NYC. Many neighbors and parents of kids I went to elementary school with worked in the towers. I heard from my best friend still living there that one of our neighbor died in the towers, leaving behind 4 young children and his wife.
I still remember where I was that day as well, I don't think I'll ever forget. I was in 8th period French class when a teacher suddenly came through the door and told us to turn on the TV. Being in an international school with a lot of americans and a previous bomb threat, the school was placed on lockdown and surrounded by police the rest of the school day.
What a sad day, I only hope we never have to live through anything like that ever again.

I remember being in my 2nd period back in 9th grade when it started. Then classess stopped and all the TVs were on and the parents began to pick us up from school. It has been 8 years already.
