It is easy to see how it got its name, the crystalline material accumulates as the leaf matures as you can see in closeup photo.
5 years in water culture in large vases. Solution ~100ppm Nitrogen, changed at least once a week and topped up with tapwater as needed to keep roots submerged at all times. Grows like a weed. Also likes S/H. I gave more than a dozen away already. I grew it in various other media for 10 years before and it barely survived the Winters with central heating in any of them.
And after pollen formed spicy lemon fragrance wafts across the room

I don't think so. It may not be self-fertile. I did not see fruit forming, I waited until the spadix turned brown and I cut it off. Next spike is developing and I will try to hand pollinate it. It has abundant pollen. However they quickly form so many plantlets with my method that I think this would be the most practical way of growing it commercially.
How did I miss this! Your Anthurium looks amazing! I had dismissed these as unable to survive indoors based on what I've read previously, but WOW!! (Actually, I did recently buy an Anthurium scherzeranum hybrid growing in a tray of water on a piece of lava that appears to be doing ok. It started off really slow but has picked up since I started adding a very dilute fertilizer to its water. Go figure. )
