Default A few Crinums

If I didn't grow orchids, I'd have a lot more of these. I got them from a friend in college who now lives in Cape Cod. Actually, he grew a few orchids and kind of got me interested. Anyways, these things are huge. The dark one is up to me chest and the lighter one was at eye level for the photo. Last one shows my little pooch.

Gorgeous! I can't say that I've ever seen them. I don't think they grow well here. Thanks for sharing!

Are they orchids? They look very similar to amaryllis. I think they are beautiful! Great job

No, they're not orchids. They are related to Amaryllis - good eye. Can you tell I have a thing for the lily family.

OH WOW! It's gorgeous. Does it smell at all? How did it get it's name "Pineapple Lily"?

You can kind of see it in the first pic - the flower stalk is topped with a rosette of leafy bracts that look kind of like the top of a pineapple. It looks more in proportion when the buds are still tight and new.

I also have a little collection of rain lilies, but don't get me started.

Wonderful flowers. I like that pineapple lilly as well, in the thumbnail of the first pic the flowers remind me of a pineapple.
