And oh ya, lets declare war of grass, at least that's what I'm working on.
Some of the birds do hang around while I'm out there as do the squirrels. Many of the little songbirds won't - they form flocks and take off when I show up.

As to grass, while I'm not against it, it has a place. Just not in my garden (except for the tall decorative ones) Thanks for the comments.

Ross that is very nice indeed. Makes you never want to leave home. I live in North Carolina near Charlotte and have been here for 20 years. My garden is sort of a great place to store my greenhouse plants in the summer. I used to drag tropicals in and out, even large plants and still have a few. It looks great in the summer and not much to look at in the winter. No grass at all except liriope (should have never done that either, it's everywhere). Anyway here are pictures through the years. You can also see the qualitiy of digital cameras over the years has gotten better.

Very, very nice Harry. Must be a great place to sit and contemplate! I don't have much shade because of the type of spp I am growing. Some day I should make a spp list.

Ross, it's a great place and I seldom leave. We pretty much don't take vacations since we have it all here from our standpoint.
I don't have hardly any sun so if it leaves here it has to grow in shade. Love my trees!

Hear Yah! I've been to near you before (Clemson) but not familiar with your neck of the woods. I know it is much more habitable than mine
