Wow Barb, your garden is spectacular! I am an avid gardener as well but my garden is only a fraction of the size. Right now, it is buried under 3-4 feet of snow...only the tallest shrubs are showing! We have been nailed by 3 storms in less than a week with another coming for this Monday.

I love the Purple Fountain. I see you have a few Jap. Maples too...aren't they the best!

Nice winter pictures. Too bad ice is so destructive and not just pretty.

That's not fair Sometimes ice can be very esthetic in gardens. If I have the time tomorrow, I will scan some slides I made a few years back of the snow/ice in our wildflower "garden".

Hey, thanks guys. Ice can be destructive especially with snow than wind on top if it. Thankfully, my garden is very sheltered, so destruction isn't usually a problem. That big ugly spruce makes me and the 'Bloodgood' Japanese maple very nervous, however. I do love the look of ice, its very artistic. Thankfully we have some snow now so that should provide some insulation for the plants. But I think you have been getting all our snow up there Todd. I love the maples, they are: Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood', Acer palmatum v. dissectum 'Ever Red' and the species palmatum. The birdlife love to hide in them. We also have the Dawn Redwood, who grows like a weed, and the multi-trunk Katsura Tree who almost grows like a weed.
