I have a stag horn that is only about three big but when I bought it last year it was a tiny single pup in sphagnum moss. I have treated as an orchid and it has developed nicely. About three months ago I stuck it in a ball( two dollar store coir lined metal baskets I wired together as a huge kokidama ball and filled with a lighter weight “potting mix”.) it has several other plants in it (a couple caladiums via cutting holes in the coir liner, a few succulents which grew from Leaves I just stuck on it, and I tucked in my stag horn, which will eventually cover it ( per my instructions! Lol) So... with limited knowledge (but I can’t imagine it would be any different) if you pry off One or two and potted it up for a year in Sphag to get it going then mounted it once it was stable you should have your backup. Here in Fla. there are literally staghorm ferns that are the size of a VW bug wrapped in a chain link fence and hanging from 1000 year oaks. So I suppose the treatment is water during dry spells and keep from too much direct sun. I have heard the banana peel thing though and have recently added some chopped up tucked behind the —-shields? I’m halfway through a bourbon on ice so forgive my brain! Anyway kudos on the find! I also have recently seen these larger ones sell @ $100. Have fun!
