Well, I definitely won't be harvesting bananas or plaintains. This devastating damage is a result of being water logged by Tropical Storm "Fay" and Florida's recent below average temperature drops.
Fay's damage wasn't so bad, but the cold temperatures have caused irreparable damage. The crown of one of the banana trees shows some less than promising signs of life, but I think it's over for these poor guys.
On the up side, this is a great sunny location to build a shade structure for the chids.
