Scadoxus commonly known as paintbrush because of its shape. Colors can vary from white to red. As a flower I think they are quite unique. I have about six growing in my garden.
Very interesting flower, Des. Are they pollinated by bees or birds? Any fragrance to them? Thanks for posting this. It's always interesting to see what other people grow (or are able to grow) in their gardens.
The scadoxus is a medium sized flower(about 4") and smells like an orange. It is pollinated by birds which love their nectar. It is wonderful how they attract the sunbirds to the garden.
